Tint Tun
A Myanmar Marine Biologist
(update: 27 April 2009)
Hi,
HAPPY NEW YEAR
17 April 2009 Myanmar New Year day.
I am Tint Tun from Myanmar which was previously known as Burma. Myanmar is situated in Southeast Asia. Thailand, China, India and Bangladesh are neighbouring countries.
I was a pearl culture technician, university teacher, pearl oyster biologist and freelance marine biologist. I am an Executive Committee Member of Myanmar non-governmental and non-profit environmental organization, Biodiversity And Nature Conservation Association (BANCA).
I am working on Myanmar marine mammals. I am interested in dugong and cetaceans especially Irrawaddy dolphin. At present, I am also working as a project manager of an EC funded environmental project which has been jointly implemented by an Itlay based INGO, ISTITUTO OIKOS, and Myanmar NGO, BANCA in Myanmar since January 2009.
Are you also interested in Myanmar marine biodiversity, environment and conservation?
Many
fauna and flora are waiting for us!!! Fish, shrimp, crab, squid, some
molluscs have been exploited from our sea. Some researches have been
done on fish, shrimp and seaweeds. But, research on crab, squid and
molluscan fisheries is still in need and study on marine mammals is a
new subject for us. Maybe, we can do some collaborative work in Myanmar
waters.
May I invite you to visit the following links, please? Myeik Archipelago is a candidate for new 7 Natural Wonder of the World. You can find some of my papers and you can download them from there just at a click on the title of paper.
Thank you very much for your visit.
